My name is Ramon Sanchez. I’m from the South Bronx in New York City. I came to Allentown, Pennsylvania, in 2001, thinking I was about to begin a new life. It did not happen as I had planned. I got into a verbal altercation with a man who sexually assaulted my sister and former girlfriend. That verbal altercation got physical once he picked up a construction hammer and began to swing it at me. I had to fight for my loved ones and my own lives. In self-defense, I accidentally killed him because he was a known member of that community. I was an outsider from New York City, combined with the fact that I am half Puerto Rican, half Panamanian man of light brown hue, and the sexual sadist was a white man, I was made to look like a drug dealer who came to Pennsylvania to sell drugs and gang-bang.

Meanwhile, the district attorney’s office and Allentown Chief Detective, who was the sexual sadist’s childhood friend, knew for years that the sexual sadist had been preying on little black/Hispanic girls for years. Still, their solution to approaching and fixing the problem was not to lock him up or try to get him some psychological help. The chief detective intimidated real victims into recanting their police complaints, not showing up to court proceedings, and allowing the sexual sadist to continue preying on black and Hispanic girls/women. The district attorney had all this in their possession but never turned it over during trial. The district attorney’s office did everything to sweep the sexual sadist’s history under the rug and went out of its way to find a county jail witness who would say anything they needed him to say to obtain a conviction in my case. I was found guilty. Sentenced to the death penalty, and I sat on death row from 2003 until 2010. In 2010, my sentence of death was vacated and reduced to third-degree murder, a sentence of 25 to 50 years. I see parole on June 20, 2026.

This year, 2024, new evidence fell into my hands. The same witness the district attorney used to put me in prison for close to 24 years now went around telling a bunch of people in society and in prison how he allowed the district attorney to use him through all parties, knew everything he said on the stand was a lie. These people, in turn, came across me through God’s will and provided me affidavits about the conversations they had with this witness who falsely testified against me to get a deal in his unrelated gun case.
I am enclosing this NEWLY DISCOVERED EVIDENCE that will free me very soon.

I am now reaching out to build bridges with people and show the world that we are not all monsters here.
