My name is David, and I am a native Texan and a father to two grown children. Since my teen years, I have taken joy in cowboy life and riding horses, from participating in rodeos in my younger years to training horses for 20 years of my life. I also take pride in being a Christian and serving in the church here at Ellis Unit. My life took an unexpected turn when I arrived in prison, but I know that God has a plan for me, and he is taking care of me and always at work. Although I have considered myself a Christian most of my life, I have found my purpose in serving in the church and helping my fellow inmates. I have founded and led many groups in my unit, such as the Circleman group, and helped lead our men's small groups. I have two grown children, Hannah (19) and Hunter (23), who are my pride and joy and have been anchors throughout my time here. What I know, most of all, is that while this is not where I want to be, God always prevails and has a purpose for my life.
