My name is Edward Carreon. I was removed from my father’s care at 9 years old and subsequently placed in the care of the Department of Child Family Services in Chicago, Illinois, foster care system.
I went to many elementary schools due to the foster care system. At Daley Elementary School on the south side of Chicag, I completed 8th grade in 1998. From Daley Elementary School, I went to Sullivan High School on the north side of Chicago but was unable to graduate due to the circumstances of the foster care system.
2006 I took CNC Programming classes at the BIR Training Center in Chicago. Eight months later, I obtained my certification. This enabled me to provide financial support for my children, as their mother could not raise them without it.
After obtaining my CNC Programming certification, I secured a position as a CNC machinist with Bradfoote Gear Works in Chicago, Illinois. I made $630.00 a week to provide for my children. I held this position while raising my children on 36th and Winchester in the McKinley Park Community.
In September of 2024, I had sleepless nights because my children were unable to graduate high school due to my current situation of being incarcerated. Before my children could not graduate high school, my plans for them were to attend college to pursue their education in criminal justice and become criminal defense attorneys to hopefully represent me one day.
Currently, I utilize my carceral time to gather information from the Reference Service Department of the Mississippi Library Commission for my children to review. This helps them pursue their education in criminal justice and become criminal defense attorneys. I also read business-related books to help my children value their education.
Upon release, the first thing on my agenda is to contact my children, let them review the information I gathered, and help them graduate high school so they can attend college to pursue their educations in criminal justice. Here I am if you want to communicate with a caring and focused person.
Sincerely,
Edward Carreon
