None of us likes to be alone in the dark. Yet, we’ve all felt alone, or found ourselves enveloped by darkness, and sometimes both at the same time. I’ve experienced both as a prisoner. Prison can be a dark and lonely place. But let’s be honest, you don’t have to be in prison to feel like a prisoner. We’re all in some sort of prison, especially those of us who suffer from loneliness. Loneliness shackles you, traps you, and leaves you feeling like you’ll never break free.
Have you ever been surrounded by people (family, friends, and colleagues) and consumed by activities (work, leisure, and the busyness of life) yet still feel utterly alone? That’s me! Even in prison, I live a purposeful, meaningful, and hope-filled life. I interact with all sorts of people, I impact countless lives, and I do a wide range of things. But loneliness grips me. And, if that’s you, I know how you feel. Either way, let’s talk. But you need to know this upfront: I’m a professing and practicing Christian; I’ll be in prison at least another 10 years; I’m looking for your time and attention. If none of this offends you or bothers you, let’s share life. Togetherness crushes loneliness, shines light in the darkest of places, and frees us.
Here’s a little bit about me: I’m the father of a 15-year-old daughter and the oldest of 4 siblings. I was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, but spent most of my life in the small country town of Bowie, Texas. I’m an Army Veteran, a recent college graduate (Bachelor of Arts in Applied Ministry), and a full-time Christian Minister. I love God, family, country, tradition, the outdoors, health and fitness, specifically CrossFit. I love to read. I love to learn. I love life! I don’t want to live it alone, and not in the dark.
P.S. Prisoners do not have access to the internet, outside email, or can no longer receive physical mail. Texas prisons use a 3rd party mail address. You can still write and mail a letter, the prison will scan it and give it to me on my tablet. All correspondence must be done through Securustech e-messaging and phone system.
